GDPR Compliance

Your rights under the General Data Protection Regulation and how Sable Venture Capital upholds them.

Effective Date: June 22, 2025

Sable Venture Capital Inc. ("Sable," "we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting the personal data of individuals in the European Economic Area (EEA) and United Kingdom in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (EU) 2016/679 and, where applicable, the UK GDPR. This page sets out your rights as a data subject and explains how we fulfil our obligations under applicable data protection law.

1. Data Controller

For the purposes of the GDPR, Sable Venture Capital Inc. acts as the data controller in respect of personal data collected through our website, application, and related services. This means we determine the purposes and means of processing your personal data.

Data Controller: Sable Venture Capital Inc.
Contact: legal@sablevc.com

2. Legal Bases for Processing

We process your personal data only where we have a valid legal basis to do so. The legal bases we rely on include:

  • Contractual necessity: Processing required to deliver the services you have signed up for, including account management, investment execution, and client communications.
  • Legal obligation: Processing required to comply with applicable laws and regulations, including AML/KYC obligations, tax reporting, and regulatory requirements.
  • Legitimate interests: Processing that is necessary for our legitimate business interests, such as fraud prevention, platform security, and service improvement — provided those interests are not overridden by your rights.
  • Consent: Where we rely on your consent (e.g., for marketing communications or non-essential cookies), you may withdraw that consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.

3. Your Rights Under GDPR

If you are located in the EEA or UK, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data. You may exercise any of these rights by contacting us at legal@sablevc.com. We will respond within one calendar month.

Right of Access (Article 15)

You have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, along with information about how we process it.

Right to Rectification (Article 16)

You have the right to request correction of inaccurate personal data or completion of incomplete data we hold about you.

Right to Erasure (Article 17)

You have the right to request deletion of your personal data where it is no longer necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, where you have withdrawn consent, or where processing is unlawful. This right is subject to certain exceptions, including our legal retention obligations.

Right to Restriction of Processing (Article 18)

You have the right to request that we restrict processing of your personal data in certain circumstances, for example where you contest the accuracy of the data or have objected to processing pending verification of our legitimate grounds.

Right to Data Portability (Article 20)

Where processing is based on consent or contract and carried out by automated means, you have the right to receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format and to transmit it to another controller.

Right to Object (Article 21)

You have the right to object to processing of your personal data based on our legitimate interests, including for direct marketing purposes. Where you object to marketing, we will cease processing your data for that purpose immediately.

Rights Related to Automated Decision-Making (Article 22)

You have the right not to be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing — including profiling — that produces legal or similarly significant effects. Where we use automated tools, we will inform you and provide a means to request human review.

4. International Data Transfers

Your personal data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside the EEA or UK, including countries that may not provide the same level of data protection as your home jurisdiction. Where such transfers occur, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission or equivalent mechanisms recognised under applicable law.

5. Data Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, comply with legal and regulatory obligations (including AML/KYC retention requirements, which are typically a minimum of five years from the end of the client relationship), resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When personal data is no longer required, we securely delete or anonymise it.

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, accidental loss, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and regular security assessments. In the event of a personal data breach that is likely to result in a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify the relevant supervisory authority within 72 hours and, where required, notify you directly.

7. Complaints

If you believe we have not handled your personal data in accordance with applicable data protection law, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the relevant supervisory authority in your country of residence or place of work. In the UK, the relevant authority is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). We would, however, appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns directly before you approach a supervisory authority — please contact us at legal@sablevc.com.

8. Updates to This Notice

We may update this GDPR notice from time to time to reflect changes in law or our data practices. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Where changes are material, we will provide more prominent notice.
